Lahm shrugs off Guardiola speculation

Bayern Munich skipper Philipp Lahm demands the club's players won't be diverted by hypothesis over the eventual fate of mentor Pep Guardiola.

Reports in Spain on Monday asserted Guardiola was near concurring a two-year contract expansion at Bayern, where his current arrangement terminates toward the end of this season.

Having planned progressive Bundesliga triumphs and set up a five-point lead at the highest point of the group table four months into the 2015-16 crusade, the previous Barcelona mentor has been connected with a progression of other top employments in European football.

Lahm is cheerful that Guardiola will stay in Bavaria yet trusts his buddies can just have a restricted impact over the circumstance.

"I don't have to go to the mentor each day and let him know that we'd like to keep working with him," the 31-year-old told columnists. "He realizes that."

"We need to work each day here - you can't stress over what happens with the mentor toward the end of the season."

Of all the more squeezing worry to Lahm is the Champions League match against Arsenal on Wednesday, after the Premier League club finished Bayern's 12-match winning run when the sides met amid the past round of mainland apparatuses.

"This is a major test against a group like Arsenal, who have top individual players," Lahm said.

"We didn't take our risks in London and we need to improve on Wednesday.

"We should can take our initial few risks again and put the adversary under weight.

"We needn't bother with any additional inspiration for the Arsenal amusement. This is the Champions League, we're playing at home and any individual who isn't roused is in the wrong place."
