Laporta won't rule out Barca joining Ligue 1


Former metropolis president Joan Laporta believes it's "not impossible" that the Spanish champions might play in France's Ligue one within the event of Catalan independence.

La Liga president Javier Tebas same last month that metropolis would not be ready to participate within the competition if the club's home region became associate freelance entity.

In September's regional elections in territory, the pro-secessionist coalition won forty eight per cent of the popular vote and hold a majority of seats within the regional parliament.

In associate interview with newspaper Journal du Dimanche, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls cited the instance of the princedom of princedom taking part in in Ligue one as a precedent for metropolis to try and do likewise.

Speaking to station RMC, Laporta in agreement with this stance however forged doubt over whether or not La Liga would follow up its inflexible stance and banish metropolis, whose Clasico showdowns with Real Madrid have helped to determine the Spanish high flight as arguably the leading domestic league within the world.

"Barca in Ligue 1? first of all we'd have to be compelled to verify if the Spanish league does not wish Barca," he said.

"In this case, Barca might play in foreign leagues. this can be not not possible with associate freelance territory - Barca might play in France or in another country."

Laporta added: "I don't assume that Barca can leave La Liga. La Liga may be a terribly attention-grabbing league and therefore the Clasico has a crucial worth.

"It is important that people who decide be terribly intelligent and appearance out for the final interest."
